Sous Chef – Pastry and Bakery

About the role

The Sous Chef – Pastry and Bakery will lead and coordinate the daily activities of the pastry and bakery team at W Hotels in Dubai, ensuring high quality and presentation standards for all baked products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate the pastry and bakery team’s daily activities.
• Plan, prepare, and oversee production of pastries, breads, cakes, desserts, and specialty baked items.
• Monitor production levels, stock requirements, and food costs.
• Train, guide, and motivate team members to maintain performance and consistency.
• Ensure proper portioning, decoration, and presentation of all products.
• Coordinate with Food & Beverage teams on dessert specials and menu changes.
• Maintain food safety standards, kitchen hygiene, and production records.
• Assist management with hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching employees.

Required profile

• Technical, trade, or vocational school degree.
• 4 to 6 years of related pastry and bakery experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to work extended periods standing, bending, lifting up to 25 lb.
• Commitment to company safety, security, and quality policies.
