Spanish Teacher – Maternity Cover (High School)

About the role

GEMS Dubai American Academy is seeking a passionate High School Spanish teacher to cover a maternity leave starting October 15, 2026. This fixed‑term position offers the chance to work in a vibrant, internationally‑focused community and deliver the Spanish curriculum within an American/IB framework.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, interactive Spanish lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and standards.
• Develop and implement creative teaching strategies that foster critical thinking and a love for the language.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive, supportive learning environment.
• Ensure continuity of curriculum delivery and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Foster an inclusive classroom culture that encourages curiosity and exploration.
• Participate in parent‑teacher conferences and maintain open communication about student progress.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education or a degree plus a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, PGDE) with a specialism in Spanish.
• Proven experience teaching High School Spanish, preferably in an American or IB curriculum school.
• Strong knowledge of inquiry‑based and hands‑on Spanish education.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Commitment to continuous professional improvement.
• Availability to start on October 15, 2026.
