Specialist Civil Structural Engineer – Offshore Water Injection Project

About the role

KBR is seeking a Specialist Civil Structural Engineer for an offshore water injection project. The role is based in Abu Dhabi, with an initial relocation to the Spain office before returning to Abu Dhabi. The engineer will lead the design, analysis, verification and integrity management of all civil and structural systems associated with the offshore platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural engineering activities from FEED through detailed design, construction and commissioning.
• Perform structural analysis and design for offshore platforms, jackets, topside structures, water‑injection modules, pipe supports, equipment foundations and access structures.
• Review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications and material requisitions ensuring compliance with API, AISC, ISO, DNV, Eurocodes and company standards.
• Evaluate structural impacts of water‑injection equipment, verify adequacy for static, dynamic, fatigue, seismic, transportation and lifting loads.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, participate in design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, constructability and risk assessments.
• Support procurement, technical bid evaluation and monitor engineering progress, resolving technical issues during execution.
• Provide construction and installation support, review fabrication methods and assist with offshore surveys and inspections.
• Conduct structural integrity assessments, fitness‑for‑service evaluations and ensure adherence to safety, quality and environmental requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s advantageous); professional registration (PE, CEng) preferred.
• 15‑18+ years of civil/structural engineering experience, primarily in offshore oil & gas, water injection or brownfield modification projects.
• Proven experience with FEED, EPC and offshore construction phases, especially on Middle‑East offshore assets.

Required skills

• Structural analysis software: SACS, STAAD.Pro, SESAM, GTSTRUDL, SAP2000.
• Knowledge of API RP 2A, DNV offshore standards, AISC steel design codes and ISO offshore structural requirements.
• Familiarity with offshore installation, load‑out, transportation and lifting analyses.
