Specialist Emergency Medicine (Emergency Physician)

About the role

The Specialist Emergency Medicine physician provides comprehensive emergency care in a fast‑paced hospital Emergency Department. The role involves rapid assessment, stabilization and treatment of patients with a wide range of acute conditions, following international clinical guidelines and local policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessment, triage, resuscitation and ongoing re‑assessment for all emergency patients.
• Perform advanced emergency procedures such as airway management, endotracheal intubation, central venous catheter and chest tube insertion, procedural sedation, fracture reduction, splinting, wound management, suturing, abscess drainage and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Interpret ECGs, laboratory results and diagnostic imaging to support timely clinical decisions.
• Manage post‑operative emergencies and coordinate care with surgeons and other specialists.
• Determine patient disposition – discharge, admission, ICU transfer or referral.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records in compliance with DHA regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety programs and continuing medical education.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Board certification (or equivalent) in Emergency Medicine.
• Valid DHA Specialist Emergency Medicine license.
• Minimum 5 years post‑specialty experience in UAE hospitals.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (ATLS preferred).
• Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
