Specialist General Surgeon (PL)

About the role

The Specialist General Surgeon (PL) will deliver comprehensive surgical care to in‑patients, day‑case and out‑patient populations in Abu Dhabi. The role involves performing a full range of general surgical procedures, providing pre‑ and post‑operative assessment, and ensuring high‑quality, cost‑effective treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Prescribe and administer medication, therapy and specialized medical care.
• Gather patient history, explain procedures and discuss test results.
• Perform surgical operations appropriate to general surgery practice.
• Undertake pre‑ and post‑operative assessments and produce clinical documentation (coding, discharge summaries, letters, reports).
• Contribute to clinical quality standards, service planning and development.
• Maintain compliance with occupational safety, health management systems and infection control policies.
• Participate in local and national specialty meetings, mandatory training (CPR, health & safety, fire safety) and annual appraisal with the Medical Director.

Required profile

• Medical qualification with a focus on general surgery.
• Special interest in upper or lower general surgical practice.
• UAE medical licensure and participation in annual relicensing/recertification schemes.
• Ability to deliver high‑quality patient care and manage resources efficiently.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to safety and infection‑control policies.
