Specialist Physician – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

About the role

SSMC is seeking a compassionate Specialist Physician to join its Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality primary and critical care to children with injuries, acute illnesses, and complex medical conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, take detailed medical histories, and address concerns.
• Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and disorders specific to pediatric intensive care.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, communicating results clearly to patients and families.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies.
• Provide counseling on diet, hygiene, preventive health, and lifestyle modifications.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient charts and documentation.
• Explain medical procedures and care plans to patients and families.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, refer to specialists when needed, and ensure compliance with medical regulations such as HIPAA.

Required profile

• Medical degree with completed residency and internship.
• Valid state license and certification to practice medicine.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating a broad range of pediatric conditions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Detail‑oriented, patient‑focused, and compassionate demeanor.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with medical advancements.
