Specialist Pipeline Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Pipeline Engineer to support a major upstream Oil & Gas project in Abu Dhabi. The role provides specialist pipeline engineering expertise, reviews EPC contractor deliverables, and ensures compliance with project specifications, ADNOC standards and international codes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and provide technical oversight of pipeline engineering and design deliverables prepared by the EPC contractor.
• Assess pipeline alignment sheets, route studies, plan & profile drawings, crossing details, specifications and design calculations.
• Guide pipeline routing, hydraulic requirements, material selection, wall‑thickness, corrosion protection and constructability.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC specifications, ASME B31.4/B31.8, API standards and other applicable codes.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces with Process, Piping, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, Electrical and other disciplines.
• Review stress/flexibility assessments, crossings, tie‑ins, supports and special engineering requirements.
• Participate in HAZID/HAZOP, design, constructability and 3D model/interface reviews.
• Handle EPC contractor technical queries, deviations, design changes and engineering submissions.
• Monitor contractor progress, close technical comments and actions, and support FEED through commissioning phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Pipeline Engineering or equivalent.
• 15+ years of upstream Oil & Gas pipeline engineering experience, including gathering/flowline systems.
• Previous PMC/Owner’s Engineer experience with EPC design review, preferably on ADNOC projects.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API 5L and related pipeline codes.
• Experience with pipeline route selection, hydraulic design, wall‑thickness calculations, material and coating selection, and integrity requirements.
