Speech & Language Therapist – Pediatric Rehabilitation

About the role

The Speech & Language Therapist joins a multidisciplinary pediatric rehabilitation team to design and deliver evidence‑based interventions that enhance communication, feeding, and participation for children with complex neurodevelopmental conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive speech, language, communication, feeding and swallowing assessments for children with cerebral palsy, autism, ADHD and developmental delay.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable functional goals across home, school and community settings.
• Provide therapy for speech sound disorders, language difficulties, social communication, fluency, voice, oral‑motor, feeding and swallowing needs.
• Assess and recommend appropriate augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, including low‑ and high‑tech solutions and eye‑gaze technology.
• Collaborate with physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, psychologists, educators and families to ensure coordinated, family‑centered care.
• Observe children in educational or functional environments to identify barriers and suggest environmental modifications.
• Document assessments, treatment sessions, progress and discharge planning in compliance with legal and organizational standards.

Required profile

• BSc in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent; MSc or relevant pediatric specialty preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of speech‑language therapy experience, with pediatric clinical exposure; 5 years preferred.
• Current DOH licensure or eligibility and membership of a professional body.
• Experience working with children with cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) principles and systems.
• Proficiency with the Communication Matrix and other validated pediatric communication assessment tools.
• Experience using eye‑gaze technology and other alternative access methods.
• Ability to use electronic clinical documentation systems.
