Staff Engineer - Content Intelligence Infrastructure

About the role

The Experience team designs Spotify’s consumer experience across every screen and platform. The Content Intelligence Product Area builds systems that create deep, machine‑readable understanding of audio, video, text and image content. We are looking for a Staff Engineer to build and scale the foundational infrastructure powering content understanding across Spotify.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of data, backend and ML infrastructure systems for content intelligence.
• Build scalable infrastructure for multimodal content processing pipelines.
• Drive architectural decisions across distributed systems, ML infrastructure and data processing platforms.
• Improve infrastructure for AI and LLM‑enabled workflows such as transcript processing and metadata enrichment.
• Develop reliable, cost‑efficient systems for high‑throughput content processing and real‑time intelligence use cases.

Required profile

• Extensive experience building and scaling large‑scale backend and infrastructure systems in distributed environments.
• Strong technical judgment balancing scalability, reliability, cost and product needs.
• Proven ability to operate in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments and shape technical direction.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.
