Staff Full-Stack Engineer

About the role

April is seeking a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to shape the future of its tax platform. You will lead the design and implementation of scalable, cloud‑native systems that power real‑time tax intelligence for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Drive critical cross‑functional engineering initiatives from design through deployment, ensuring quality and scalability.
• Participate in technical decision‑making and share knowledge across multiple teams.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless, data‑driven experiences.
• Evaluate and introduce new tools, technologies, and practices that raise engineering excellence.
• Model service ownership, observability, and operational best practices.
• Promote a culture of clean code, testing, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years at senior, staff, or principal level.
• Proven track record designing and building distributed systems at scale in cloud‑native environments (GCP or AWS).
• Deep expertise in backend architectures such as microservices, event‑driven systems, and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Strong hands‑on experience with modern front‑end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) and full‑stack engineering practices.
• Fluent in system design, balancing trade‑offs between scalability, performance, and developer experience.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to influence cross‑functionally.
