Staff Midwife – Antenatal, Intrapartum & Postnatal Care

About the role

The Staff Midwife provides comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and post‑natal care to child‑bearing women and their newborns at Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi. Working within the Midwifery Scope of Practice, the role supports the hospital’s mission, vision and values while promoting health education and breastfeeding initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver routine and specialised care for uncomplicated pregnancies, including risk assessment and early identification of complications.
• Supervise and mentor practical nurses, practical midwives, junior staff and student nurses, acting as a preceptor and role model.
• Coordinate patient care from first contact through discharge, ensuring documentation, medication administration and adherence to hospital policies.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to refer women with complications and to develop individualized care plans.
• Participate in performance reviews, organisational change initiatives and health promotion activities.

• Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving and conflict‑management abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and to communicate effectively across disciplines.
• Willingness to act as a mentor, preceptor and advocate for patient rights and dignity.

Required skills

• Competence in providing antenatal, intrapartum and post‑natal care within the regulatory Midwifery Scope of Practice.
• Knowledge of medication administration policies and evidence‑based practice.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care according to hospital procedures.
