Staff Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Staff Nurse to join its Cardiovascular Operating Room team. The role involves delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to patients of all ages undergoing cardiac surgery, while supporting a multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform timely patient admissions, assessments, and develop individualized care plans.
• Provide direct, family‑centered care and monitor patient conditions throughout surgical procedures.
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record.
• Administer medications using barcode scanning and deliver prescribed treatments according to approved protocols.
• Educate patients and families, addressing cultural and special needs, and verify understanding of teaching.
• Collaborate with other professionals to assess and meet patient healthcare needs.
• Participate in evidence‑based practice initiatives, report errors or near‑misses, and contribute to quality improvement.
• Complete charge capture and in‑service training documentation within Epic within required timeframes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum two years post‑graduate experience in a General Surgery or Operating Room setting.
• Valid current national nursing license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or equivalent).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications relevant to the specialty.

Required skills

• Barcode scanning for medication administration.
• Proficiency with Epic charge capture system.
• Knowledge of cardiac operating room procedures and equipment.
• Ability to deliver patient education and assess learning needs.
