Staff Nurse – ICU TP

About the role

The Staff Nurse – ICU TP provides direct and indirect age‑specific care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit at American Hospital Dubai, ensuring professional performance and patient safety in accordance with Joint Commission International standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including advanced physical assessment and ABG interpretation.
• Monitor vital parameters such as arterial pressure, central venous pressure, and hemodynamics using devices like FlowTrac.
• Operate and maintain equipment including bladder scanner, ventilators, defibrillator, and chest tube drainage systems.
• Manage invasive lines and devices: implanted venous access ports, central venous catheters, intra‑abdominal and intracranial pressure catheters.
• Provide mechanical ventilation support, wean patients, and apply non‑invasive positive pressure ventilation.
• Administer and document controlled medications, operate PCA pumps, and perform procedural sedation.
• Deliver specialized care such as epidural management, tracheostomy care, and end‑of‑life support.
• Participate in advanced therapies including CRRT, ECMO, intra‑aortic balloon pump procedures, organ donation and brain‑stem testing.
• Document all patient data accurately, maintain supplies, and contribute to unit quality‑improvement activities.

Required skills

• Advanced physical assessment and ABG interpretation.
• Basic ECG interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring (arterial & central venous pressure).
• Operation of bladder scanner, ventilators, defibrillator, and chest tube systems.
• Care of implanted venous access devices and central venous catheters.
• Mechanical ventilation management and weaning.
• Use of PCA pumps, procedural sedation, and epidural management.
• CRRT and ECMO administration.
• Intra‑aortic balloon pump assistance and organ donation procedures.
