Staff Nurse – Medical & Surgical ICU

About the role

The Medical & Surgical ICU at Madinat Zayed Hospital is seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care in a fast‑paced critical care environment. The role involves comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for adult patients across a range of acute conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care in accordance with hospital policies and ICU scope of service.
• Monitor patient conditions, identify significant changes, and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation.
• Administer medications safely, report adverse drug reactions and medication errors as required.
• Coordinate discharge planning and ensure continuity of care throughout the patient’s episode.
• Act as a preceptor and mentor for junior staff, practical nurses, and student nurses.
• Participate in performance reviews, interdisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Abu Dhabi, adhering to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem‑solving and conflict‑management abilities.
• Commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary practice and patient advocacy.
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and organizational change.

Required skills

• Medication administration and knowledge of drug contraindications.
• Comprehensive patient assessment and critical care monitoring.
• Operation of ICU equipment and adherence to emergency response protocols.
