Staff Nurse - Medical Wing, Tower B5

About the role

SSMC is hiring a Staff Nurse for its Medical Wing in Tower B5, Abu Dhabi. The nurse coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education and transitions of care, while supporting professional nursing practice across the continuum of care. The nurse must follow the Nursing Scope of Practice and the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs), document findings and identify risks to health and safety
• Develop individualized plans of care with patients, families and the healthcare team, using evidence-based practice and measurable outcomes
• Implement the plan of care, perform treatments and procedures, administer medications according to policy and communicate relevant information across care levels
• Provide health teaching and promotion suited to each patient's condition, and evaluate progress and understanding
• Evaluate outcomes, attend care rounds, update the attending physician and provide clinical handovers
• Integrate evidence and research into practice and take part in performance improvement projects
• Lead by example, coordinate delegated tasks, supervise practical nurses, junior staff and student nurses, and respond to emergencies in line with organizational policy

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, or a nursing degree of at least two years' duration plus registration as a registered nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia
• At least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an appropriate setting (waived for UAE nursing college/university graduates who have completed their internship)
