Staff Nurse - Surgical Wing (Tower C5)

About the role

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is hiring a Staff Nurse for Tower C5, Surgical Wing, in Abu Dhabi. The nurse coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education and transitions of care, while supporting the hospital's mission, vision and values and following the Abu Dhabi and UAE Professional Nurses Code of Conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs), interpret findings, prioritize risks and document data
• Identify expected outcomes and develop an individualized, evidence-based plan of care involving patient, family and the healthcare team, and modify it as needed
• Implement the plan of care, perform treatments and procedures, administer medications and communicate relevant information across care levels
• Teach patients and families, promote healthy lifestyles and self-management, and evaluate their understanding (e.g., teach-back)
• Evaluate progress toward outcomes, attend care rounds, update the attending physician and provide clinical handovers
• Integrate evidence and research into practice and take part in performance improvement projects
• Lead by example, coordinate delegated tasks, supervise practical nurses, junior staff and student nurses, and participate in shared decision-making
• Follow ethical and safety standards, speak up on quality and safety issues, and respond to emergencies according to organizational policy

Required profile

• At least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an appropriate setting
• Experience requirement waived for graduates of UAE nursing colleges or universities
