Staff Nurse - Tower D5 A- HDU

About the role

SSMC is hiring a Staff Nurse for Tower D5 A- in its HDU (High Dependency Unit) in Abu Dhabi. The nurse coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education and transitions of care, while supporting professional nursing practice across the continuum of care and adhering to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs), interpret findings, prioritize risks and document data according to guidelines.
• Identify expected outcomes and develop an individualized, culturally appropriate plan of care, modifying it as the patient's response changes.
• Implement the plan of care with evidence-based interventions, perform treatments and procedures according to protocols, administer medications per policy and communicate relevant information across care levels.
• Teach patients and families using strategies suited to their condition and learning needs, and evaluate their understanding through methods such as teach-back.
• Evaluate progress toward outcomes, revise the plan of care, provide clinical handovers and reports, attend care rounds and update the attending provider.
• Integrate evidence and research into practice, share findings with the team and take part in performance improvement projects.
• Lead by example, coordinate and supervise delegated tasks, supervise practical nurses, junior staff and student nurses, and respond to emergencies in line with organizational policy.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, or a nursing degree of at least two years' duration plus registration as a registered nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an appropriate setting (waived for UAE nursing college/university graduates who have completed their internship).
• Adherence to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
