Steward - Food and Beverage

About the role

A full-time, non-management Steward position in the Food and Beverage department at a W Hotel in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The role covers cleaning and dishwashing duties, receiving deliveries and keeping the kitchen and storage areas tidy.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as the dishwashing machine, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing station and trash compactor.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen and store rooms, tables, tools, knives and equipment.
• Receive deliveries, store perishables properly and rotate stock; keep clean wares in the right places.
• Use detergent, rinsing and sanitizing chemicals in the 3-compartment sink to clean dishes.
• Inspect, pull and stack cleaned items, send soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing, and rack and spray items with hot water to remove food residue.
• Sort, soak and wash or re-wash silverware; break down dirty bus tubs.
• Empty and maintain trash cans and the dumpster area; clean and mop assigned areas; dispose of glass and recyclables correctly.
• Follow company and safety policies, report maintenance needs, accidents and unsafe conditions, complete safety training and protect company assets.

Required profile

• No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• No related work experience or supervisory experience required.
• Ability to move, lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds, stand, sit or walk for long periods, and reach overhead and below the knees.
