Storage & Backup Administrator (L2)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Storage & Backup Administrator (L2) to join our IT Infrastructure team. The role focuses on managing enterprise SAN storage, backup solutions, and disaster‑recovery processes for mission‑critical environments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain EMC, HP, IBM SAN storage systems and Fibre Channel switches.
• Manage SAN zoning, storage volumes, snapshots, replication, and recovery activities.
• Monitor storage performance, identify bottlenecks and implement optimisations.
• Oversee enterprise backup platforms (Networker, Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup, Data Domain) and resolve daily backup failures.
• Support DR testing, maintain runbooks, and ensure RTO/RPO objectives are met.
• Maintain tape library hardware, coordinate vendor replacements and track license utilisation.
• Perform hardware maintenance, software upgrades and enforce security/compliance policies.
• Document operational procedures, perform root‑cause analysis and drive incident resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in storage and backup administration.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in enterprise‑grade environments.
• Proven ability to work with critical business applications and high‑availability systems.
• Effective coordination with vendors and internal infrastructure teams.

• EMC Unity, Dell EMC, HP MSA, HP 3PAR, IBM SAN storage.
• Dell PowerEdge servers.
• SAN Fibre Channel switches and blade chassis.
• VxRail appliances.
• Backup technologies: Networker, Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup, Data Domain.
• Tape library management and disaster‑recovery operations.
