Strategic Planning Officer

About the role

The Arab Monetary Fund is seeking a Strategic Planning Officer to lead long‑term strategic thinking and coordinate with internal departments and external partners. The role focuses on monitoring economic developments across Arab countries and aligning the Fund’s strategies with regional and global trends.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Fund’s long‑term strategic planning and communicate with all departments and supporting units.
• Monitor economic developments and strategic visions of Arab countries, including survey results on their aspirations.
• Identify global economic trends and derive medium‑ and long‑term indicators.
• Stay informed about developmental and financial plans of regional and international institutions and foster strategic partnerships.
• Coordinate with organizational units to formulate strategic plans and report on performance.
• Develop and apply methodologies to assess strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and opportunities.
• Formulate strategic objectives, activities, and performance measurement indicators.
• Prepare qualitative presentations for the Board of Directors on strategic plans and performance.
• Lead the preparation of annual departmental plans ensuring alignment with the Fund’s strategic direction.
• Encourage initiatives, improve business processes, and support capacity‑building activities.
• Report on strategic planning efforts and outcomes.

Required profile

• Arab national, under 50 years of age.
• Doctorate or master’s degree in economics, finance, governance, or strategic planning.
• Relevant experience in strategic planning within a recognized financial, regional, or international institution.
• Strategic thinker with strong interaction and stimulating abilities.
• Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English; French knowledge is a plus.
• Passion for methodologies such as balanced scorecards.
• Proven ability to prepare and present executive reports to a Board of Directors.
• Competence in using information technologies for data gathering and strategic analysis.
