Subject Matter Expert - Storm Water Management

About the role

Parsons is seeking a senior Subject Matter Expert in Stormwater Management to lead the planning, design and delivery of stormwater and urban drainage systems for large‑scale projects in Abu Dhabi. The role provides technical leadership, ensures regulatory compliance and drives innovative, climate‑adapted solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of stormwater networks, detention basins, pumping stations and coastal outfalls, reviewing and approving consultant and contractor submissions.
• Interpret and apply Abu Dhabi and UAE regulations, codes and guidelines, supporting permitting processes with DMT, EAD and other authorities.
• Develop and update master plans, design criteria and technical standards for stormwater management, integrating green infrastructure and nature‑based solutions.
• Provide expert support during construction, including review of method statements, QA/QC monitoring and root‑cause analysis of drainage issues.
• Maintain GIS databases, perform hydraulic modeling and produce technical reports, dashboards and performance reviews for flood risk management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering; 20+ years of experience in stormwater or water resources engineering, preferably in arid or semi‑arid climates.
• Proven experience delivering large‑scale urban drainage projects and coordinating with government authorities.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with ability to work in multidisciplinary, cross‑cultural teams.
