Sustainability Engineer

About the role

The Sustainability Engineer supports the implementation of sustainability strategies, ensures compliance with green building certification requirements and helps monitor sustainability performance across project lifecycles. The role coordinates with project teams, contractors and regulatory authorities to deliver compliant and effective sustainability outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate sustainability certification requirements and project progress to stakeholders and project teams, and coordinate daily activities with the Contractor's Sustainability Engineer/Manager
• Assist MEP and Civil teams in meeting sustainability requirements and take part in sustainability meetings, supporting Minutes of Meeting preparation
• Review design drawings, specifications and sustainability documentation, and maintain documentation tracking sustainability KPIs
• Support review of contractor submissions such as technical material submittals, shop drawings, calculations and reports
• Support green building certification processes (LEED, Estidama, Al Sa'fat, etc.) and prepare documentation for authority approvals
• Conduct site inspections and support sustainability audits, monitor the Contractor's CEMP implementation and follow up on NCNs, SINs and corrective and preventive actions
• Review contractor sustainability reports and assist in preparing monthly sustainability performance reports for clients
• Ensure sustainability-related inspections, sampling and testing follow standards, and inspect materials and witness tests where required
• Support research on sustainability materials, technologies and best practices, and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and training

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (B.Eng / B.Tech) in Engineering or a related discipline
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in sustainability or related roles
• ESTIDAMA PQP (PBRS & PCRS)
• LEED Green Associate or LEED AP WELL AP (advantage)
