Swimming Instructor - Immediate Start

About the role

Aldar Education is recruiting a Swimming Instructor for Muna British Academy in Abu Dhabi, with an immediate start. The school, which has held an Outstanding ADEK rating since 2015, recently moved to a new campus in the Saadiyat Lagoons community and now welcomes students from FS1 to Year 8, with plans to extend to Year 13. The instructor teaches all children in the school to swim and keeps them safe around the pool.

Key responsibilities

• Teach swimming to every class in the school and manage the work of the swimming assistant
• Ensure children are supervised at all times and that a staff member watches the water while not teaching a group
• Keep the pool area safe in line with the National Operating Procedures (NOP) and ensure pupils and staff know the Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP)
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons and organise galas, competitions and health promotion events
• Liaise with class teachers and classroom assistants on the care and supervision of children before, during and after lessons
• Run extra-curricular provision and support the PE department with day-to-day tasks and whole-school events
• Work in a curriculum action group, attend monthly training, and take part in PE team meetings
• Communicate with parents and carers about students' achievements and well-being

Required profile

• UAE-approved (ADQCC) Swimming Coach Certificate
• First Aid certificate and CPR knowledge
• Qualified life guard and qualified to teach swimming
• Proficient swimmer, physically fit and able to work outdoors
• Excellent English; Arabic proficiency desired
• Active involvement in co-curricular activities

Required skills

• Health and safety awareness, including COSHH and risk assessment guidelines
• Classroom management and child safeguarding
• Teamwork and effective verbal and written communication in English
