Teaching Assistant (Emirati National)

About the role

The school is looking for an Emirati national to assist teachers with a variety of classroom tasks. The role supports the delivery of the curriculum, helps maintain a safe and organised learning environment, and steps in to cover short periods of class when required.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with reading‑related activities and run small‑group sessions as directed.
• Prepare and tidy classroom materials, mount work displays and create worksheets.
• Cover the class for short periods in emergency situations.
• Maintain and organise stock cupboards, distributing new supplies.
• Accompany children to the toilet and provide necessary personal care.
• Develop familiarity with curriculum areas such as literacy, numeracy and phonetics.
• Follow GEMS policies, procedures and codes of conduct at all times.
• Contribute extra effort beyond the typical workday when tasks require it.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding student and school information.

Required profile

• Emirati national.
• Good general education, especially in Maths and English.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to handle a range of tasks, work under pressure and relate well to children and colleagues.
• Previous experience as a teaching assistant or working with children is preferred.
• ICT skills are desirable.
