Technical Coordinator - Construction (Remote Island Project, Abu Dhabi)

About the role

A client of Agile Consultants is looking for an experienced Technical Coordinator to manage and coordinate technical activities for a construction project on an island near Al Sila, Abu Dhabi. The role sits at the interface of site teams, consultants, subcontractors and project management, and involves reviewing technical documentation and following up on RFIs and drawing approvals. The position is based at the remote island site, and candidates must be willing to stay there for extended periods, potentially several months at a time.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate technical activities between site teams, consultants, subcontractors and project management.
• Review technical drawings, shop drawings, material submittals and project documentation.
• Prepare, coordinate and follow up on RFIs, technical submissions and drawing approvals.
• Work with construction, QA/QC, HSE, planning and procurement teams to support project execution.
• Identify technical issues and coordinate their resolution, and ensure compliance with project specifications and approved drawings.
• Maintain technical records, submission registers and approval tracking reports, and monitor outstanding submissions to avoid delays.
• Clarify technical requirements with consultants and subcontractors and keep project management informed of progress.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
• Previous experience as a Technical Engineer or Technical Coordinator with a construction contracting company; experience only in consultancy firms will not be considered.
• Strong knowledge of technical drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs and project documentation.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, subcontractors, site engineers and project management teams.
• Ability to track submissions, monitor approvals and keep project documentation records.
• Good technical coordination, communication, reporting and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to live and work at the remote island project location for several months at a time.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.
• Experience in island-based, offshore, remote or infrastructure construction projects is preferred.
