Technical Director – Data Centres & Mission Critical (Electrical)

About the role

As the Data Centres & Mission Critical sector expands across the Middle East, WSP is seeking a Technical Director – Data Centres & Mission Critical (Electrical) to join its Building Services team. This senior leadership position will provide technical direction on complex data centre projects, champion design excellence, and support the continued growth of the Mission Critical practice in the UAE and KSA.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of hyperscale, colocation and mission‑critical facilities.
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary Building Services design teams.
• Drive design quality, innovation and technical excellence throughout project delivery.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients on mission‑critical infrastructure strategies.
• Support business development, client engagement and major project pursuits.
• Mentor and develop engineers within the Building Services team.
• Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of WSP’s Data Centres & Mission Critical practice.

Required profile

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 18+ years of experience in Building Services Engineering, with a focus on data centre and mission‑critical projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams in a consultancy environment.
• Extensive experience in the Middle East, understanding regional client requirements, authority approvals and delivery frameworks.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional accreditation.
