Technician 2, Water Quality (Life Support Systems)

About the role

A qualified Technician 2 in water systems is needed at Atlantis, The Palm to support the operation and maintenance of the resort's Life Support Systems (LSS). The role covers water chemistry, pump and filtration maintenance and system monitoring, and requires English communication skills for reporting and coordination. Shift work is required, both day and night.

Key responsibilities

• Test pH, chlorine, alkalinity, hardness and other parameters, and ensure correct chemical dosing and balance.
• Monitor flow rates, pressure readings, filtration cycles and system performance, support backwashing and media cleaning, and adjust equipment.
• Identify issues with water clarity, circulation or mechanical components and act on them promptly.
• Maintain accurate logs of daily readings, maintenance, chemical use and system performance.
• Follow chemical handling protocols, PPE requirements and safety standards.
• Keep storage areas, workstations and tool inventory clean and organised.
• Assist with inspections, diagnosis and repairs of pumps, motors, fractionators, compressors, ozone systems, valves and related equipment.
• Report issues daily and keep the supervisor informed.
• Help prepare the department budget, monitor performance against it, and contribute to team leadership and staff development.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated knowledge of water chemistry and chemical dosing.
• Hands-on experience in pump maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, chemical and biological filtration.
• Working knowledge of Life Support Systems used in aquatic, pool or water treatment environments.
• Ability to work independently and flexibility to work rotating day and night shifts.

Required skills

• Understanding of instrumentation, P&ID, schematic, PFD and single-line diagrams.
• Ability to operate equipment such as ozone generators, VFDs and actuators.
• Basic understanding of electrical energy use and efficiency.
• Knowledge of FRP, PVC, HDPE and other common industry materials.
• Basic English for reporting and team coordination.
