Telecom Maintenance Engineer – Habshan 5 & Sulphur

About the role

The Telecom Maintenance Engineer will supervise and deliver telecom services for the Habshan 5 and Sulphur plants, ensuring system availability, reliability and compliance with HSE policies. The role involves planning, coordinating and managing maintenance activities, as well as providing technical expertise for complex repairs and upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and supervise preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of plant telecommunications, including radios, CCTV, PAGA, public address and structured cabling systems.
• Develop and manage maintenance budgets, capital and operating plans, and monitor expenditures against targets.
• Review and approve engineering designs from vendors and contractors, ensuring standardisation and compatibility across all telecom projects.
• Coordinate installations, factory and site acceptance tests, pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities, and hand over minor upgrade projects.
• Liaise with the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) and local network operators (Etisalat & Du) for licensing, interference resolution and network fault recovery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of experience managing telecom engineering services in a large industrial environment, preferably oil & gas.
• Proven ability to supervise technicians, contractors and sub‑contractors.
• Strong planning, organising and coordination skills, with experience using Maximo for work order management.

Required skills

• Telecom radios, structured cabling, CCTV, PAGA, public address and general alarm systems.
• Pre‑commissioning, commissioning and factory/site acceptance testing.
• Network troubleshooting, fault analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Use of Maximo for maintenance planning and scheduling.
