Trade Finance Officer

About the role

The Trade Finance Officer at RAKBANK ensures the efficient processing and control of trade finance transactions while complying with bank policies, regulatory requirements and international trade standards. The role covers both funded and non-funded trade products and supports operational excellence, risk mitigation and service delivery to internal and external customers.

Key responsibilities

• Process trade finance transactions such as Letters of Credit (import and export), bank guarantees, documentary collections, shipping guarantees, trust receipts and related amendments.
• Review trade documents for compliance with approved facilities, internal policies, regulations and international trade rules.
• Verify customer instructions and supporting documentation before executing transactions.
• Monitor maturities, outstanding obligations and pending cases, and liaise with customers, correspondent banks and internal stakeholders to resolve queries and discrepancies.
• Support settlement and funding activities and maintain accurate transaction records and documentation in line with audit requirements.
• Ensure adherence to UCP 600, URDG, ISP98, ICC guidelines, AML procedures and sanctions screening.
• Identify and escalate operational, transactional and compliance risks, support internal and external audits, and contribute to process improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Commerce, Business Administration or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Trade Finance Operations within a banking or financial services environment.
• Good understanding of funded and non-funded trade finance products and transaction processing.
• Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and effective stakeholder management.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of international trade practices, SWIFT messaging and trade finance systems.
• Knowledge of UCP 600, URDG, ISP98, ICC guidelines, AML and sanctions compliance.
• Proficiency in banking applications and Microsoft Office tools.
