Traffic Management Specialist

About the role

The Traffic Management Specialist coordinates the shipment of Global Prepositioned Material Services (GPMS) cargo worldwide by air, land, and sea. This role ensures compliance with all applicable international and U.S. transportation laws, Department of Defense guidance, and internal quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, accept, and process outbound/inbound cargo documentation (DD Form 1149/1348-1) within the Defense Transportation System (DTS).
• Verify nomenclature, quantity, Transportation Control Numbers (TCN), Transportation Account Codes (TAC), consignor/consignee codes, hazardous/classified material requirements, and ITAR certifications.
• Select the most efficient mode of shipment, assign commodity codes, and manage government transportation fund obligations.
• Prepare shipping documents, generate labels, issue truck manifests, and maintain manifest logs.
• Enter transportation data accurately into CMOS, GATES, IBS, and related systems.
• Inspect hazardous materials for proper packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation per AFMAN 24-604, 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG regulations.

Required profile

• Ability to access and operate multiple logistics and tracking systems.
• Knowledge of International Trade and Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Department of Defense transportation policies.
• Completion of AMMO-43, AMMO-62, and Wood Packaging Materials (WPM) certification courses.
