Trainee Pilot – Port Vessel Operations

About the role

Join Abu Dhabi Ports as a Trainee Pilot and support safe, efficient vessel movements within the port. You will work under the guidance of senior pilots, gaining hands‑on experience in navigation, communication and operational coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in piloting vessels in and out of the port and through restricted waterways under supervision.
• Support the use of navigational charts, electronic charts and other navigational aids to assess vessel condition and readiness.
• Participate in pre‑pilotage briefings and post‑pilotage debriefings.
• Report navigational risks, hazards and incidents to senior pilots and the Pilotage Manager.
• Assist in implementing mitigation measures for identified risks.

Required profile

• Diploma in Nautical Science, Marine Studies or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years seatime as a Junior/2nd Officer with strong knowledge of local waters.
• Excellent English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to port conditions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Strong knowledge of navigation, seamanship and maritime regulations.
