Port Captain – Offshore Fleet Operations

About the role

The Port Captain is the shore‑based marine operations focal point for a fleet of DP2 accommodation, diving support and other offshore vessels. The role ensures vessel readiness, compliance with international codes and client requirements, and supports safe, efficient offshore operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day operational guidance to Vessel Masters and senior deck officers, monitoring readiness, defects, certifications and client specifications.
• Plan and conduct periodic marine inspections (bridge, DP systems, deck condition, lifesaving, firefighting, accommodation, security) and issue detailed reports with corrective actions.
• Lead marine coordination of vessel mobilisations and demobilisations, translating project and charter requirements into readiness actions, inspection checklists and crew competence needs.
• Oversee DP2 vessel operations, verify DP documentation, support DP trials, and review incidents to implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, MLC 2006, STCW, flag and class regulations, and coordinate with regulatory bodies on surveys, certificates and audits.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in offshore marine operations, preferably with DP2 vessels.
• Strong knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC 2006, STCW and flag/class requirements.
• Proven ability to manage vessel readiness, inspections and client punch‑list items.
• Excellent communication with Masters, fleet management and client representatives.
