Vice President – Marine Operations (Jebel Ali)

About the role

The Vice President – Marine Operations leads the Marine Department at Jebel Ali, ensuring safe and efficient vessel movements and compliance with international maritime standards. Reporting to the Senior Harbour Master, this senior leader drives operational excellence, customer satisfaction and regulatory adherence across all marine services.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily planning, administration and staffing of the Marine Department to guarantee optimal coverage of shipping movements.
• Maintain navigation aids, channel depths, berths, fenders and quays to support safe berthing and transit of vessels.
• Handle customer enquiries and complaints, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
• Conduct regular inspections of lay‑up ships to verify proper mooring and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with port security and implement ISPS Code requirements.
• Lead pollution control, emergency response and anti‑pollution measures.
• Maintain accurate records, logs and audit documentation.
• Manage marine service contracts, SLAs, KPIs, cost control and commercial discipline.
• Conduct performance reviews, audits and governance meetings with third‑party service providers.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in marine operations or port management.
• Proven leadership in supervising marine staff and managing large‑scale maritime projects.
• Strong knowledge of ISPS, HSE standards and marine safety regulations.
• Excellent analytical, decision‑making and stakeholder‑management skills.
