Vice President of Safety

About the role

The Vice President of Safety will lead the strategic and operational direction of flydubai's Safety Program, covering both Operational Safety and Occupational Health & Safety. Reporting to senior leadership, this role ensures compliance with global aviation safety standards and drives a strong safety culture across the airline.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a unified safety strategy that integrates Operational Safety and Occupational Health & Safety principles.
• Enhance safety performance against regulatory standards and provide insights to the SVP of Compliance, Safety, and Sustainability.
• Lead safety awareness campaigns to embed flydubai’s safety culture at all organizational levels.
• Represent flydubai with national and international authorities such as GCAA, EASA, IATA, and Boeing.
• Ensure adherence to the Safety Management System (SMS) and promote regulatory compliance.
• Develop strategic alliances with external stakeholders to support operational safety interests.
• Lead policy development and continuous improvement of Occupational Health & Safety initiatives.
• Act as lead representative in ICAO Annex 13 investigations of incidents and accidents.
• Oversee psychoactive substance management and communicable disease management programs.
• Provide risk management, assurance, and incident response support to all business units.
• Monitor emerging safety trends and keep leadership informed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 12‑14 years of experience in aviation safety, including leadership roles.
• In‑depth knowledge of ICAO, IATA, GCAA, and EASA regulations.
• Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional safety programs.
• Fluent English communication skills.
