VMware & Nutanix Subject Matter Expert

About the role

We are seeking an experienced VMware & Nutanix SME to support and manage enterprise infrastructure environments across VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft Azure, and Windows Server platforms. The role involves day‑to‑day operations, administration, troubleshooting, lifecycle management, and automation while ensuring high availability of critical infrastructure services.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, monitor and support VMware environments (ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters, storage, VMs).
• Manage Nutanix infrastructure including Prism Central, AHV, cluster health, capacity and lifecycle activities.
• Administer Microsoft Azure services – virtual machines, networking, storage, backup, security and monitoring.
• Perform Windows Server administration – installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Handle infrastructure lifecycle tasks such as patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation and technology refreshes.
• Monitor health, performance, availability and capacity, and proactively resolve issues.
• Support incident, problem, change and service request management following ITIL best practices.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Participate in disaster recovery, backup, restoration and business continuity activities.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities using PowerShell, Ansible or Terraform.

Required profile

• BSc in Telecommunications, Computer Science or equivalent.
• 8–10 years of IT infrastructure operations experience.
• Minimum 6 years of hands‑on VMware administration.
• At least 3 years of experience each with Nutanix and Microsoft Azure administration.
• Proven ability to manage critical incidents in high‑pressure production environments.

Required skills

• VMware ESXi, vCenter, HA/DRS, VM provisioning, patching, performance and capacity management.
• Nutanix Prism Central, Prism Element, AHV, Lifecycle Manager, capacity monitoring and data protection.
• Microsoft Azure – virtual machines, virtual networks, storage, backup, identity & access management, security and governance.
• Windows Server – DNS, DHCP, file services, patching, security management, performance monitoring, PowerShell scripting.
• Automation tools – PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform (plus Azure Automation and Azure Monitor).
• Monitoring tools – SCOM, HP Service Assurance.
• Relevant certifications (ITIL Foundation, VMware VCP, Nutanix NCP, Microsoft AZ‑104) are a plus.
