Ward Attender

About the role

The Ward Attender provides administrative and basic non-clinical support to the nursing team so that the ward runs smoothly. The role covers patient coordination, ward documentation, patient movement support and keeping the ward environment organised and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain patient records, files and ward registers as directed by nursing staff, and update admission, discharge and transfer information in hospital systems or registers.
• Answer telephone calls, relay messages to nurses and doctors, and coordinate with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, housekeeping and transport.
• Prepare and maintain patient documentation, forms and reports, and ensure proper filing and confidentiality of records.
• Help patients and visitors with directions and basic information, and assist nursing staff with non-clinical patient care tasks when required.
• Keep nursing stations and ward areas clean and organised, and make sure forms, stationery and non-medical supplies are in stock.
• Receive and distribute supplies within the ward, and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Act as a liaison between patients, families and healthcare staff, and support nurses in coordinating patient-related administrative tasks.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate in healthcare assistance or ward clerk training preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare facility preferred; ward administration or patient support experience is an advantage.
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Required skills

• Basic computer knowledge (MS Office / hospital information system).
• Organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Teamwork and understanding of patient confidentiality and hospital policies.
