Warranty Engineer - Substations

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Warranty Engineer to manage warranty obligations for DEWA, TAQA, ADNOC, SEWA substation and DRPC projects, including containerized stations. The role acts as the main point of contact for warranty issues raised by clients, investigates equipment failures, supports substations on site and coordinates with engineering, commissioning, quality and OEM teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage warranty obligations for the listed projects and act as the primary contact for client warranty issues
• Receive, record, track and close warranty claims within contractual response times, keeping warranty logs, progress reports and closure documentation
• Ensure compliance with project warranty and defect liability period requirements
• Investigate equipment failures and defects, lead root cause analysis (RCA) and prepare technical investigation reports
• Coordinate with engineering, commissioning, quality and OEM teams on corrective actions and verify their effectiveness
• Monitor equipment reliability and recurring issues
• Attend substations for troubleshooting and technical support, prepare method statements, obtain permits to work and coordinate site mobilization of service engineers and specialists
• Supervise repair, replacement, testing and recommissioning; manage petty cash and have delegated authority for local purchasing within agreed limits
• Interface regularly with DEWA, TAQA, consultants and end users, attend technical meetings and provide status and performance reports

Required profile

• Background in GIS and AIS substations (132kV, 220kV, 400kV preferred)
• TAQA competency in plant-GIS, transformer and auxiliary systems
• Hands-on experience in substation installation, testing and commissioning of switchgear, protection relays and scheme checks
• Knowledge of cable systems, battery and DC systems, and testing and commissioning procedures
• Understanding of RCA methodologies
