Wet Utilities Engineer

About the role

An infrastructure team in Abu Dhabi, UAE is hiring a Wet Utilities Engineer. The engineer plans, designs and coordinates wet utility networks for airport and infrastructure projects, covering potable water, fire water, sewerage, stormwater drainage, TSE and irrigation. The role spans all design stages, from feasibility and concept to detailed design.

Key responsibilities

• Design potable water, fire water, sewerage, stormwater, TSE and irrigation networks, including water and wastewater demand calculations, stormwater runoff calculations and hydraulic analysis and network sizing for gravity and pressure systems.
• Prepare concept and detailed design of pumping stations, tanks and related structures, plus network layouts, longitudinal profiles, typical sections and standard details.
• Prepare quantities and bills of quantities (BOQ) and support cost estimates, and prepare design basis reports, calculation reports and technical specifications.
• Collect and review utility records and as-built drawings, coordinate utility surveys and trial pits, identify affected utilities and maintain a utility conflict register.
• Propose diversion, relocation and protection solutions, and plan utility connections and disconnections.
• Prepare authority submissions, data requests and NOC applications, coordinate with the client, Abu Dhabi authorities and utility providers, and attend technical and coordination meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in wet utilities design in the UAE.
• Good knowledge of Abu Dhabi authority and utility provider standards and approval procedures.
• Preferred: experience on airport or large infrastructure projects, utility diversions and conflict resolution, and a UAE driving licence.

Required skills

• Hands-on hydraulic modelling (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, StormCAD or similar).
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Able to prepare calculations, reports and quantities with limited supervision; good written and spoken English.
