Accountant - Oil & Gas

About the role

A client in Abu Dhabi is looking for an Accountant for its oil and gas business. The role covers day-to-day accounting, receivables and payables, cash flow support and compliance with UAE tax regulations and company financial policies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records, prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments and adjustments, and keep the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed asset registers.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile supplier and customer accounts, and assist with month-end and year-end closing.
• Process supplier invoices, credit notes and payment vouchers, verify them against purchase orders and delivery notes, and follow up on pending invoices.
• Monitor customer payments and overdue receivables, prepare supplier payment schedules and coordinate payment approvals.
• Record and monitor oil and gas product, equipment, material and service transactions, track purchase costs, sales revenue, freight, customs duties and other expenses, and monitor project-wise costs and profitability.
• Reconcile inventory records with physical stock reports, track purchase and sales orders and contracts, and assist with cost sheets, quotations and gross profit analysis.
• Monitor foreign currency transactions and record exchange differences where applicable.
• Assist in preparing and filing UAE VAT returns, verify tax invoices, maintain supporting documents for VAT and tax audits, and help with corporate tax calculations and compliance.
• Prepare monthly financial reports (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow summary) and monitor cash balances and bank transactions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CMA, CPA or equivalent are an advantage.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in oil and gas, trading, procurement or industrial supply is preferred.
