Associate Cost Control Engineer

About the role

Parsons is looking for an Associate Cost Control Engineer to support internal project cost control activities. The role involves assisting with budgets and forecasts, tracking project costs, updating internal systems and preparing reports for project managers and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support Project Control Engineers, Senior Project Control Engineers and Project Controls Managers with project budgets and forecasts.
• Track labor, subconsultant and other project-related costs, including actuals, commitments, expenditures and forecast values.
• Collect, organize, verify and reconcile cost information from project managers, project teams, design discipline leads, timesheets and internal systems.
• Update project controls, accounting, cost management and reporting systems.
• Prepare periodic cost reports, summaries, dashboards, spreadsheets, management reports and presentation material.
• Support cost variance analysis and forecast comparisons, and perform data-quality, arithmetic and reconciliation checks.
• Identify and escalate incomplete, inconsistent or unusual cost information, and maintain cost control files and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in project cost control, project controls, cost engineering or a related project environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication and data-reconciliation skills.
• Ability to follow procedures, meet reporting deadlines and work with project managers, project teams, design discipline leads and Project Controls personnel.

Required skills

• Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables and charts.
• Basic understanding of project budgets, forecasts, commitments, actual costs, labor costs and cost reports.
• Desired: experience with project controls, ERP, accounting, cost management or internal reporting systems, and familiarity with cost variance analysis, timesheet data and project accounting.
