Accountant, Research Accounting

About the role

The Accountant, Research Accounting supports the Research Accounting Manager in overseeing the financial administration of research and executive education projects. Working closely with university staff, finance offices, research centers, and external sponsors, the role ensures accurate and timely management of research‑related finances.

Key responsibilities

• Set up grants, extensions, and system updates in the Oracle PPM module.
• Prepare and process invoices to external sponsors.
• Liaise with sponsors and stakeholders on financial reporting requirements.
• Calculate and allocate indirect cost (IDC) overhead earned on projects.
• Prepare monthly payroll add‑on schedules and journal vouchers for cost allocations and adjustments.
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with colleges, research offices, and administrative departments to exchange financial information.
• Collaborate with General Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and Payroll units.
• Assist in finance transformation initiatives and continuous process‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Oracle Fusion or Ellucian Banner.
• Experience using Oracle PPM module.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
