Accounts Manager

About the role

An Accounts Manager is needed in the United Arab Emirates within the banking, financial services and insurance sector. The role oversees and optimizes all accounting operations, ensures compliance with local regulations, leads budgeting and forecasting, and drives strategic financial initiatives. It involves managing a team of accounting professionals and working with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage accounts payable and receivable, the general ledger and bank reconciliations
• Prepare, review and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and UAE regulations
• Develop, manage and monitor annual budgets, forecasts and variance analyses
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations and coordinate VAT filings
• Coordinate external audits, liaise with auditors and implement their recommendations
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior management
• Mentor accounting team members and maintain internal controls, policies and procedures
• Work with other teams on financial systems improvements and ERP enhancements

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or equivalent professional accounting certification
• 15-17 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial role
• Deep knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and taxation, and strong knowledge of UAE VAT law
• Proven track record of preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements
• Leadership experience managing and developing teams
• Preferred: Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration; CPA, CMA or ACCA; experience in a multinational or Big Four firm; ERP implementation experience; fluency in English and Arabic
