Acoustic Engineer

About the role

AESG, an award-winning specialist consultancy, engineering and advisory firm with offices in London, Riyadh, Singapore, Dubai, Cape Town, Cairo and Sydney, is hiring an Acoustic Engineer in Dubai. The firm works across Building Engineering, Planning and Infrastructure, Strategy and Advisory and Commissioning, Handover and Asset Management, and has a large team with decades of experience in acoustics.

Key responsibilities

• Provide acoustic engineering design, advice and technical solutions on projects
• Conduct environmental noise surveys on construction sites, existing buildings and development plots
• Perform building acoustic testing (airborne and impact sound insulation) to ISO 140 / ISO 16283 standards
• Carry out acoustic calculations and analysis (sound transmission, reverberation time, HVAC noise, external noise ingress)
• Prepare noise and vibration impact assessments throughout the project life cycle
• Develop acoustic design strategies and specifications for residential, hospitality and mixed-use developments
• Review architectural and MEP drawings for acoustic compliance and recommend mitigations
• Attend site visits to inspect construction, supervise testing and verify installation quality
• Liaise with clients, design teams and authorities to progress acoustic deliverables

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or equivalent
• Generally 3-5 years of professional experience, including 3+ years of acoustic consulting (Middle East experience preferred)
• Demonstrated experience in acoustic measurements and a strong foundation in acoustic theory and calculations
• Experience on residential and hospitality projects from concept design through completion and testing
• Site experience is essential: noise monitoring, building acoustic testing and construction-stage inspections
• IOA membership or equivalent preferred

Required skills

• Acoustic modelling software (e.g. ODEON, EASE, SoundPLAN, CadnaA, INSUL) preferred but not essential
• Ability to work independently on complex tasks and manage smaller projects (around $50k) in a client-facing role
• Team leadership: managing a small team of two or more on live projects or mentoring juniors
• Commercial acumen: managing commercials on project delivery and assisting with proposals
