Ambulance Estimation Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Ambulance Estimation Engineer to produce accurate, commercially competitive estimates for ambulance vehicles, specialist medical interiors, emergency equipment, and related conversion projects. The role works closely with design, procurement, production, sales and project teams to ensure all estimates are complete, compliant and delivered on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotations, bills of materials and tender submissions for ambulance conversions and specialist emergency vehicles.
• Review customer briefs, technical specifications, drawings, schedules and scope‑of‑work documents to identify project requirements.
• Calculate material, labour, subcontractor, tooling, logistics and installation costs for vehicle conversion works, medical interiors, electrical systems, lighting, oxygen, HVAC, stretchers, patient handling equipment and communications gear.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring technical compliance, lead times and commercial terms are understood.
• Maintain estimating databases, pricing records, labour rates, supplier information and historical cost data.
• Support sales and business development with technical clarification, value engineering, pricing reviews and customer presentations.
• Update estimates for scope changes, variation quotations and commercial impact assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in cost estimating, project engineering, vehicle conversion, specialist vehicles or related industry.
• Practical knowledge of ambulance design, emergency vehicle conversions or medical interiors is advantageous.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of materials and wiring diagrams.
