Android MDM Client App Developer

About the role

An experienced Android MDM Client App Developer is sought to build and maintain an Android client application used for enterprise device management, security, monitoring and policy enforcement. The role requires strong knowledge of Android system APIs, Device Owner/Profile Owner, Android Enterprise and device-level management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android MDM client applications for enterprise-managed devices.
• Implement device management policies using Android Enterprise APIs, DevicePolicyManager, Device Owner and Profile Owner.
• Build features for app management, device configuration, restrictions, security policies and compliance.
• Implement remote actions such as lock, wipe, reboot, configuration updates and policy synchronization.
• Manage app installation, updates, permissions and configuration on managed devices.
• Implement background services, device enrollment, authentication, heartbeat and secure communication with the MDM backend.
• Integrate remote command and policy update mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot device issues using Android system APIs, ADB, debugging tools and logs.
• Optimize the client for performance, battery, reliability and security, support OS upgrades and work with OEMs and Android versions.
• Collaborate with backend, security, QA and product teams.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Hands-on experience with DevicePolicyManager, Device Owner, Profile Owner and Android Enterprise, and with enterprise/device-management apps.
• Experience with different Android OEMs and versions is a plus.
• Nice to have: experience with MDM/EMM/UEM platforms, dedicated devices, AOSP or custom ROMs, Android system apps, privileged APIs, Samsung Knox and OEM management frameworks.

Required skills

• Strong Kotlin and Java; deep understanding of the Android SDK and system-level APIs.
• Knowledge of permissions, services, broadcast receivers, background execution and app lifecycle.
• REST APIs, JSON, authentication and secure client-server communication.
• Debugging with ADB, logcat, dumpsys and Android Studio.
• Understanding of Android security and application hardening.
