Appointed Person / Lifting Operations Deck Foreman with Mobile Crane Experience

About the role

EnerMech is seeking an experienced Appointed Person / Deck Foreman to lead lifting operations on offshore platforms in Abu Dhabi. The role involves planning, coordinating and executing crane lifts while ensuring safety and compliance with client procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, risk assess and supervise routine and non‑routine crane‑lifting operations on client platforms.
• Coordinate EnerMech riggers, ensure competence, brief teams and manage lifting equipment documentation.
• Maintain a lifting equipment database, oversee test certificates, damage reports and equipment issuance registers.
• Conduct banking/signalman duties, monitor weather conditions and suspend lifts when necessary.
• Ensure correct crane selection, load integrity, statutory permits and safe working environment, including night lighting.
• Prepare and complete lift reports, risk assessments, logs and other required documentation.
• Support platform emergency duties and operate firefighting equipment when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 3‑year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of offshore/onshore lifting experience, including 5 years in a similar appointed‑person role.
• Demonstrated ability to write lifting plans and supervise critical lifts in oil & gas projects.
• Strong focus on HSE priorities and proven leadership of safe lifting practices.

Required skills

• Mobile crane operation and supervision.
• Lifting equipment inspection, rigging and certification management.
• Lifting plan development and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of international lifting standards and LEEA‑UK “Entry Exam” (preferred).
