Assistant Manager, HSSQE

About the role

The Assistant Manager, HSSQE will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned vessels on all Health, Safety, Security, Quality and Environment matters. You will ensure compliance with international codes, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement across the fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct internal audits for assigned vessels in line with ISM, ISPS, MLC and the company’s Integrated Management System.
• Monitor HSSQE performance through reports, inspection findings, audit results and KPIs, identifying trends and risks.
• Maintain and coordinate renewals of Safety Management Certificate, International Ship Security Certificate and MLC certification.
• Develop job safety analyses, project‑specific HSE plans and SOPs to meet charterer and local requirements.
• Participate in charterer inspections, risk assessments, HAZID studies and emergency response exercises.
• Investigate accidents and near‑misses, capture associated costs and disseminate lessons learned.
• Identify training needs, design and deliver training programmes and safety campaigns.

Required profile

• Minimum 36 months (3 years) of relevant experience in maritime HSSQE roles.
• Familiarity with ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC and company Integrated Management System.
• Ability to lead audits, manage corrective actions and work with process owners.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data, trends and risk indicators.
