Assistant Professor in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and Study Skills

About the role

De Montfort University Dubai seeks an experienced Assistant Professor to deliver high‑quality, student‑centred teaching in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and Academic Study Skills across International Year Zero, foundation and pathway programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and inclusive teaching in EAP, Academic Study Skills and foundation/pathway programmes.
• Design, develop, assess and enhance teaching and learning materials aligned with university standards.
• Develop students' academic writing, critical thinking, research communication and independent learning skills.
• Contribute to curriculum development, module reviews, assessment design and continuous programme enhancement.
• Provide academic guidance to promote student engagement, retention and progression.
• Participate in assessment marking, moderation and quality assurance activities.
• Engage in scholarly activities, professional development and applied research relevant to EAP and higher education.
• Collaborate with colleagues on student recruitment, induction and wider university activities.

Required profile

• Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English Language Teaching or a closely related discipline.
• Recognised English language teaching qualification (e.g., DELTA, CELTA) with substantial relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience teaching EAP and/or Academic Study Skills in higher education, preferably within UK‑style foundation/pathway provision.
• Experience in curriculum development, assessment design, marking, moderation and providing constructive student feedback.
• Strong understanding of academic literacies, language development and the needs of international students.
• Eligibility for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency or willingness to obtain it.
