Assistant Resident Engineer - Infrastructure Projects

About the role

KN International is seeking a qualified Assistant Resident Engineer to support the delivery of infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. The postholder works closely with the Resident Engineer to oversee site activities, give technical guidance and make sure construction follows approved designs, specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing and supervising daily civil works and wet utilities activities.
• Oversee underground utility networks: stormwater drainage, sewerage, water supply and irrigation.
• Monitor installation of pipelines, valves, manholes, inspection chambers and related structures.
• Check that earthworks, excavation, backfilling, compaction, concrete works and road reinstatement meet approved requirements.
• Review contractor submissions such as drawings, material approvals, work procedures and quality control plans.
• Check site inspection requests and technical queries, and track progress against approved schedules.
• Liaise with contractors, site inspectors, surveyors and utility providers, and oversee pressure tests, leakage tests and CCTV surveys.
• Identify defects and follow up with the contractor, and review interfaces between utilities, roads and other infrastructure.
• Maintain site records, prepare progress reports and take part in completion inspections, testing, commissioning and handover documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Experience in infrastructure construction supervision, civil works and wet utilities.
• Hands-on experience in pipeline works, utility chambers, manholes, excavation, backfilling and reinstatement.
• Previous experience on UAE infrastructure projects is preferred.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage and irrigation systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, technical specifications and method statements.
• Understanding of site inspection, quality assurance and engineering standards.
• Strong technical coordination, problem-solving and reporting, with good communication skills.
