Automotive Harness Engineer – Electrical

About the role

Black Pearl Consult is hiring an experienced Automotive Harness Engineer to support automotive engineering and vehicle electrical development in the UAE. The role covers the harness design and development lifecycle, from electrical definition and design through prototype validation, technical documentation, troubleshooting and coordination with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electrical wiring harnesses according to program and vehicle requirements.
• Define electrical connections and interface points using wiring diagrams, schematics and technical data.
• Develop and maintain harness drawings and related engineering documentation.
• Perform electrical calculations, including current requirements, wire gauge selection and circuit protection.
• Support selection of wires, connectors, terminals, fuses and other electrical components.
• Prepare and maintain BOMs, specifications, drawings and engineering change documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with automotive standards and customer requirements, and review prototype harnesses.
• Support troubleshooting and coordinate with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Take part in engineering and design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience in automotive wiring harness design and development.
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems, wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to perform current calculations, wire sizing and fuse/circuit protection selection.
• Familiarity with automotive electrical standards and customer-specific requirements.
• Good written and spoken English; attention to detail and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Required skills

• Experience preparing harness drawings, BOMs, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Experience with CAD tools used for electrical or wiring harness design.
